ANNOUNCEMENTS

NEW TREASURER

We have a new Treasurer. Zahaira A. Sightler, CFE was appointed treasurer at the August 23, 2010 Board Meeting. Zahaira is a graduate of Alliant International University – Marshall Goldsmith School of Management majoring in strategic management. She is an auditor and belongs to the national honorary and professional management fraternity of Sigma Iota Epsilon and, of course, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

COMMUNITY SERVICE – PRO BONO PROGRAM

The ACFE Mission

The mission of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is to reduce the incidence of fraud and white-collar crime and to assist the Membership in its detection and deterrence. To accomplish our mission, the ACFE:

Provides bona fide qualifications for Certified Fraud Examiners through administration of the CFE Examination
Sets high standards for admission, including demonstrated competence through mandatory continuing professional education
Requires Certified Fraud Examiners to adhere to a strict code of professional conduct and ethics
Serves as the international representative for Certified Fraud Examiners to business, government and academic institutions
Provides leadership to inspire public confidence in the integrity, objectivity, and professionalism of Certified Fraud Examiners

Luncheon meetings are held on the third Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November.

                 11:30am to 1:30pm –Lunch

From I-15, take Aero Drive exit west.
From CA-163, take Mesa College Dr/Kearny Villa Rd exit.
From I-805, take exit 20A toward Kearny Villa Road.

COST: $25 for current chapter members;
$35 for non-chapter members

Speaker: Genevieve Turner, EnCE
Computer Forensic Expert

Topic: Intellectual Property theft and an eye on the inside using Computer Forensic Techniques.

Synopsis: This training will cover several ways your “Intellectual Property” could be compromised and the methods that could be used to transport your business data to the outside. How and why is your Intellectual Property a target? Disgruntled employees, internal accidental mishandling, and external intrusions are just a few ways your valuable assets could be comprised. What do I do now?

Swift action by a computer forensic expert can lead to the discovery of who was sitting at the keyboard during the theft bringing rapid resolution to the case. Using computer forensics and countermeasures you can protect your Intellectual Property and save your reputation. In closing, I will discuss an Intellectual Property Theft Case Scenario.
